Day 2 at the ASEAN Women Economic Summit 2025

The morning began with an inspiring session on Sustainability Leadership by the YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari (Abang Jo), sharing Sarawak’s progressive roadmap toward a green economy and inclusive development. The dialogue was skillfully moderated by Ms. Ng Wei Wei, CEO of UOB Malaysia.

This was followed by a dynamic Luncheon Power Talk on “Shared Prosperity: The New Imperative for ASEAN Economic Growth” delivered by YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. His thought-provoking insights on equitable regional growth were complemented by Mr. Kuok Meng Xiong, Managing Director of Kuok Brothers and Founder of K3 Ventures.

Followed by the afternoon session: Global Power Hour: Women Pioneering Across Continents

Monday, February 17, 2025 – At the China Conference: Southeast Asia 2025, organized by the South China Morning Post in Kuala Lumpur.

Prime Minister YAB DS Anwar Ibrahim called for Asean’s relationship with China to evolve beyond traditional trade and investment.
He emphasized the need to prepare for future challenges, warning that artificial intelligence (AI) and new American tariffs could disrupt the global economy.
He also urged the region to focus on transitioning to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry YM Tengku Zafrul Aziz declared 2025 as Asean’s year, pledging to make Asean centrality “not just an ideal.”
He highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a gateway to mainland China for Asean and positioned Malaysia as a bridge for Hong Kong to Asean and beyond.
